LANGKAWI, May 24, 2025 – The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA’25) concluded on a high note today, with Defense Minister Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin hailing the event as a “symbol of national pride” and a vital strategic platform for Malaysia’s defense, technological advancement, and international diplomacy.
Speaking at the official closing ceremony, the minister revealed that 860 exhibitors participated this year — split evenly between local and international companies — and the event welcomed over 450,000 visitors despite challenges posed by unpredictable weather conditions.
LIMA’25 also saw a significant increase in business engagement, recording over 1,400 Business-to-Business (B2B) and 900 Business-to-Government (B2G) meetings throughout its five-day programme. The number of static displays, comprising maritime and aerospace defence assets, also increased, offering visitors a closer look at the capabilities of Malaysia’s defence industry.
One of the standout features introduced this year was the Atmosphere Dome, an immersive high-tech experience showcasing the integration of Aerospace Technology and Maritime Operation for Sustainability (ATMOS). The minister said this reflects a shift in the global defense landscape towards high-tech solutions and sustainable military operations.
“LIMA is no longer just an exhibition — it is now a national strategic platform,” said Mohamed Khaled. “It is a space where innovation, diplomacy, and economic opportunities converge in service of national defense and development.”
He outlined five key reasons why LIMA should be continued and further strengthened in the future:
Strategic Collaboration and Technological Exchange: LIMA serves as a platform for Malaysia to track global defence trends and sign key cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding.
Bridge between Industry and Government: The exhibition facilitates meaningful interactions between private sector companies and government agencies, paving the way for investment and technology transfer.
Youth Engagement and Patriotism: With captivating air shows and military displays, LIMA helps cultivate public interest — particularly among the youth — in careers with the Malaysian Armed Forces and related sectors.

Instrument of Defence Diplomacy: The strong presence of international delegates underscores LIMA’s growing role in bilateral and multilateral defence relations.
Global Media Reach: Over 700 media representatives, including more than 100 from international outlets, attended the event, expanding LIMA’s visibility and reputation on the world stage.
International participants and exhibitors reportedly praised LIMA’25 for its improved organization and execution, describing it as “smoother, better managed, and more impactful” compared to previous editions.
“LIMA has evolved beyond being just a defense exhibition. It is now a strategic national instrument — and should be advanced with even greater innovation and ambition moving forward,” the minister added.
With LIMA’25 now concluded, Malaysia continues to cement its position as a central hub for maritime and aerospace innovation in Southeast Asia and beyond.
