JOHOR BAHRU: In a heartwarming gesture of compassion and community support, Lotus Desaru Beach Resort & Spa organized a special buka puasa event, bringing together orphans, persons with disabilities, and underprivileged children for an evening of joy and togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan.

Present for the occasion were founder of Lotus Group & chief executive officer Tan Sri Doraisingam Pillai, Lotus group chairman Datuk Seri Dr Md Isa Sabu, Lotus group deputy chairman, Datuk Mohamed Thajudeen, and group chief legal officer Indra Gandhi Pillai.

Also present were State assemblymens for Penawar, Fauziah Misri, Sedili, Muszaidi Makmor, Johor Lama, Norliza Noh and Tanjung Surat, Aznan Tamin. Officials from various government agencies were also invited.

Datuk Mohamed Thajudeen in his address expressed his heartfelt commitment to giving back to the community, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan.

He delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of compassion and inclusivity during the holy month, and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve those in need.

This initiative not only highlighted the resort’s commitment to social responsibility but also created a memorable experience for all attendees.

He emphasized the importance of community support for orphans, underprivileged children, and individuals with disabilities.

He also highlighted the resort’s commitment to social responsibility and the joy of coming together to share this special occasion, fostering a spirit of compassion and generosity.

The event served as a reminder of the collective effort needed to uplift those in need and create a more inclusive society.

“This is a time for sharing and reflection, and it brings us great joy to be able to support these children and families in need,” he said during his opening speech.

He went on to emphasize the importance of nurturing compassion and unity within the community. “Ramadan is not just about fasting; it is about extending a hand to those who are less fortunate, fostering a sense of unity and gratitude. It is our hope that events like this will inspire others to reach out and make a positive impact,” he said.

This breaking of the fast, he added is not just an event, but a platform of love and togetherness. “Let us make it a space to share sustenance, instill the value of concern, and help those in need. Hopefully, every deed we do is accepted as an act of worship and rewarded by Allah SWT.”

The buka puasa gathering saw more than 400 attendees, being treated to a sumptuous Iftar buffet spread. The menu featured a variety of traditional Malay dishes, including rendang, sambal, and an array of desserts such as kuih-muih, symbolizing the rich heritage of Malaysia’s Ramadan traditions.

The evening began with the recitation of prayers, followed by the breaking of fast, creating an atmosphere of reflection and togetherness. Staff from the resort also helped ensure that the guests were comfortable and enjoyed the evening to its fullest, offering their time to serve food and interact with the children.

The guests were also presented with special goodie bags containing essential items, for the children, bringing smiles to their faces. It was a joyful atmosphere for everyone present.

The buka puasa at Lotus Desaru Beach Resort & Spa was not only a gesture of charity but a reaffirmation of the resort’s dedication to community welfare and inclusivity. The event reflects the broader values of Ramadan, which encourages empathy, charity, and caring for those in need.

As the evening came to a close, the children and their families expressed their gratitude, with many saying the experience brought them a sense of happiness and belonging.
