JOHOR BAHRU: In the gentle glow of Ramadan evenings, when the call to prayer softens the day’s hurried pace and families gather in anticipation of breaking fast, White Hall Event Space in Kempas is transforming the sacred month into a celebration of flavour, fellowship and shared humanity through its “Mega Ramadan Buffet”.

Set within an expansive hall dressed in elegant chandeliers and warm lighting, the event space opens its doors to a culinary journey of more than 130 homemade delicacies — a heartfelt tribute to tradition, memory and the comforting tastes of home.

From the moment guests arrive, the air carries the aromas of roasted meats, simmering spices and freshly prepared dishes, inviting diners into an experience designed not merely to satisfy hunger after a day of fasting, but to nurture connection and belonging.

Hanafi Abdullah, General Manager of White Hall Event Space, warmly serves a freshly prepared dish to guests, embodying the spirit of hospitality and togetherness at the evening’s gathering.

The buffet’s concept draws inspiration from the familiarity of a mother’s kitchen and the vibrant energy of a Ramadan bazaar, presenting a series of bustling food stalls that evoke nostalgia and discovery in equal measure.

Guests are greeted by the sight of a succulent Whole Roasted Lamb carved to perfection, alongside signature highlights such as nasi afghan, ayam mandy and richly spiced daging masak hitam and kuzi, served with traditional condiments that deepen every bite.

A lively kopitiam corner and hot satay port bring the spirit of Malaysian street dining into the hall, complemented by local favourites, western selections, sizzling hot plate specials, popcorn chicken and crisp delights prepared fresh throughout the evening.

Each stall becomes a small theatre of taste, where chefs work with quiet pride and precision, ensuring every dish carries the warmth of authenticity.

Beyond the savoury offerings, the dessert spread is a celebration in its own right. Live kuih-muih stations brim with colourful traditional sweets, while dessert corners offer modern indulgences and comforting classics.

A guest savours the simple joy of choice, carefully selecting his favourites from the buffet spread as the warm glow of the evening and the spirit of togetherness turn a meal into a shared celebration.

Refreshing beverages — from fresh juices to local favourites such as air khatira, Dhaka-inspired drinks and strawberry yogurt — provide a cooling finish to the iftar meal, leaving guests nourished in both body and spirit.

“Our Mega Ramadan Buffet is more than a dining event — it is a tribute to the depth of local and mixed flavours that define our culture,” said Hanafi Abdullah, General Manager of White Hall Event Space, which operates under the wing of Savanna Hill Resort in Ulu Tiram. “We aim to bring families, friends, colleagues and communities together over a sumptuous spread, creating moments of togetherness that reflect the true essence of Ramadan.”

He added that the initiative is rooted in values that extend beyond food. “Ramadan comes once a year to remind us of what truly matters — closer relationships, gratitude, generosity and the joy of sharing. We are committed to creating a memorable space where loved ones can gather, reconnect and celebrate the blessings of the season.”

The venue itself enhances the experience. Known for its grand interiors and vast, hotel-inspired design, White Hall Event Space is among Johor’s largest event venues, capable of accommodating up to 1,000 guests at a time.

During Ramadan, three halls will host the buffet, allowing large families, corporate groups and communities to break fast together in comfort.

Under the glow of evening lights and a sky heavy with rain, White Hall stands ready to welcome its guests—where warm gatherings, shared meals and quiet conversations turn an ordinary night into a moment of connection and comfort.

Facilities such as surau, fully air-conditioned halls, shuttle buggy services and ample parking ensure convenience for guests, while the setting encourages diners to capture the spirit of iftar in a refined yet welcoming environment.

The event also introduces an element of excitement with a lucky draw offering prizes including complimentary 2D1N stays and special goodies, adding a festive touch to the evening.

For many, the buffet represents more than an indulgent spread — it is a reminder of how food becomes a language of care during Ramadan.

Strangers become companions over shared tables, laughter rises between courses, and the act of breaking fast together turns into a quiet celebration of unity.

The “Mega Ramadan Buffet” will run from 25 February to 18 March throughout the fasting month, inviting guests from across Johor Bahru and beyond to experience a feast shaped by tradition, hospitality and heartfelt intention. Organisers encourage early reservations as interest indicates strong community response.

As twilight falls and the first sip of water breaks the fast, White Hall Event Space hopes each guest leaves with more than a full plate — carrying instead the warmth of shared moments, the comfort of familiar flavours and the gentle reminder that Ramadan is, above all, a time to come together in gratitude and compassion.

At White Hall Event Space in Kempas, the spirit of Iftar is served in generous portions — plates brimming with ocean-fresh treasures, rich spices and the promise of togetherness as families and friends gather to break fast in flavourful celebration.
