
JOHOR BAHRU: Some 300 delegates from 20 over countries will gather from July 25 – 27 at New York Hotel for the 2nd Malaysia Laughter Yoga Conference 2025.
Themed “Embrace Laughter”, the conference will feature Dr Madan Kataria, the founder of the global Laughter Yoga movement, alongside 18 international and Malaysian speakers.
At a press conference recently, this one-of-a-kind gathering brings together laughter yoga practitioners, health professionals, wellness advocates, and joy-seekers from across the globe to explore laughter’s impact on mental, physical, and emotional well-being.
During the conference there will be a keynote speech, plenaries, workshops and outdoor events.
The conference highlights include the Joyous Cultural Street Night at Tan Hiok Nee Cultural Street on July 26, a celebration of Malaysia’s rich multi-cultural spirit.
For overseas delegates there will be a free half day city tour on July 27 from 2.30pm – 9 pm. Places of interest include the Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque, Johor Bahru Old Chinese temple and the Mariamman Hindu Temple followed by a sumptuous Malay cuisine food at the Malay Village Restaurant.
Dr Madan Kataria from India will talk on Business Opportunities with Laughter Yoga.
Meanwhile Australia’s leading laughter expert/Gelotologist Merv Neal will discuss his past research studies and their findings over the last 15 years, and then updates with his current work in the UK, Africa and Nepal.
He will also discuss the importance of this work and the opportunities that lie ahead with it.
There will also be mention of the opportunities with autoethnography that show how we can all become researchers.
Also included will be a special performance by Bill Lewis, Khedlly Koh and Diane Kichitjitsu.
Other speakers include Associate Professor Dr Sivakumar Thurairajasingam, Happy Madhuri from India, Diane Kichijitsu from England, Bill Lewis also from England, Cordelia Lee from Malaysia and Dusty Susan from Thailand.
Others on the list include Dr Raja Kamariah from Malaysia, Vinayak Shastri (India), Hakima Karima (Tunisia), Junko Kato (Japan), Kayem Thomez (Bahrain), Lara Lucaccioni (Italy), Michi Morioka (Japan), Dr Norzah Abd Ghani (Malaysia), and Pham Quoc Vinh (Vietnam)
There will also be special sharing by Siti Nur Ayishah Basari, Premalatha Sundram and Rajvin Kaur.
According to the organizer, the conference objectives include promoting laughter as a Way of Life – Cultivating joy, resilience, and positivity.
This conference will foster global collaboration in building bridges among international practitioners and communities.
