JOHOR BAHRU: In the spirit of Hari Raya Puasa, a few distinguished members of the Rotary Club of Johor Bahru (RCJB) made a courtesy visit to the residence of Johor’s Chief Minister.
The visit, which took place on the first day of the festive celebration, was marked by warmth, unity, and camaraderie, as the Rotarians took part in the traditional festive practices and mingled with the local community.
The Rotary Club of Johor Bahru, founded in 1952, holds the prestigious distinction of being the oldest Rotary Club in the state of Johor. Over the decades, the club has been instrumental in numerous community outreach programs, educational initiatives, and social welfare projects that have benefitted the people of Johor and beyond.
This Hari Raya Puasa visit was seen as a continuation of the club’s long-standing commitment to fostering goodwill and mutual respect within the community.
The Rotarians—Steven Wu, Freddie Lee, Henry Chin, M.P. Babu, Rosalie Wong and Bryan Soh who are prominent figures within the club—arrived at the Chief Minister’s residence in the early morning, greeted by a large crowd of well-wishers.
Hari Raya Puasa, a significant celebration marking the end of Ramadan, is a time of forgiveness, reflection, and renewing bonds, making the visit particularly meaningful.
The Chief Minister, known for his emphasis on community engagement, had opened his doors to the public, a tradition that reflects the inclusive and welcoming nature of the celebration.

The Rotary delegation took the opportunity to mingle with the gathered crowds, engaging with fellow citizens from diverse backgrounds.
Their presence was warmly received, with many taking the chance to speak with the Rotarians about the club’s ongoing initiatives in Johor.
One of the Rotarians commented on the importance of building bridges within the community, stating, “Hari Raya is not only about celebrating with family and friends, but also about strengthening relationships with our community members. As Rotarians, it is our duty to extend our support and goodwill to everyone, especially during such an important time.”
After spending some time with the attendees, the Rotarians were escorted to meet with the Chief Minister. The exchange of greetings was marked by a deep sense of respect, with the Rotarians offering their well-wishes for Hari Raya Puasa.
They also expressed their appreciation for the Chief Minister’s continued efforts to uplift the community and his support for various civic and charitable causes. In return, the Chief Minister acknowledged the Rotary Club’s significant contributions to the state and commended them for their steadfast dedication to service above self.
In a brief address, the Chief Minister expressed his gratitude for the visit and highlighted the value of such gatherings in fostering unity and harmony among the people of Johor.
He noted that organizations like the Rotary Club play a crucial role in driving positive change, especially through their charitable and volunteer efforts.
“The Rotary Club of Johor Bahru has a long and proud history of serving the community, and their presence here today reflects the spirit of Hari Raya—a time for coming together, supporting one another, and looking toward the future with hope,” he said.
The visit concluded with a group photo followed by hand-shakes, as is customary during Hari Raya Puasa. The Rotarians praised the Chief Minister for the good work he is doing and ensured the club’s enduring relationship with the state government and their shared commitment to improving the lives of the people of Johor.
