JOHOR BAHRU: The hospitality sector has long been accustomed to transformation and adaptation; however, a significant evolution has occurred in recent years. Sustainability has become a fundamental principle of contemporary hotel management, reshaping operational practices in areas such as energy usage and waste management.
In the realm of hospitality, sustainability signifies the commitment to conducting hotel operations in a manner that is both environmentally responsible and resource-efficient. This concept also includes the promotion of social responsibility through support for local communities and adherence to ethical business standards.
The objective of sustainability within the hospitality industry is to reduce its adverse effects on the environment while enhancing its beneficial contributions to the local economy and society.

The significance of sustainability in this sector is paramount. As the global community confronts challenges such as climate change and resource scarcity, the ecological footprint of the hospitality industry has faced increased scrutiny.
The swift growth of hotels and resorts, combined with the resource-heavy characteristics of the industry, has resulted in environmental issues, including water waste, high energy consumption, and excessive waste production.
Implementing sustainable practices in hospitality provides a viable solution to alleviate these challenges, fostering a responsible and ethical approach to tourism.
