JOHOR BAHRU: The needy and underprivileged need not feel hungry as the Social Hero Foundation (SHF) has unveiled its compassionate mission or “Feed the Needy” project with home-cooked meals weekly for six months.

There are many unfortunate families and individuals who are even deprived of a single meal.

Hence, SHF will be bringing with them home-made meals to some 50 needy families and individuals.

According to SHF the initiative pledges to serve 50 meals weekly for six months, ensuring a ripple effect of hope and sustenance across the city.

Recipients will be given meal coupons by Anjung Singgah YKN and the meal distribution will be handled by Anjung Singgah YKN and RKT Rumah Pangsa Larkin.

“Feed the Needy” project is a movement to bring wholesome, home-cooked meals to those in need at the Pejabat RKT Rumah Pangsa Larkin.

For six months until September this year, recipients can use the coupon to collect their meals once a week.

SHF intends to create a ripple effect of hope and sustenance across the city.

This initiative also gives an opportunity for single mothers, empowering them with opportunities to contribute their culinary skills.

Farrah Baptist, SHF director of programs said, “This dual-focus approach not only addresses hunger but also fosters economic support for these hardworking women,” adding that it integrates them into a community of support and empowerment.

Farrah said this compassionate mission is championed by SHF alongside esteemed partners such as Yayasan Kebajikan Negara’s Anjung Singgah YKN, under the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, KRT Rumah Pangsa Larkin, and Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB).

Zaharah Selamat, a single mother participating in the project, said, “This project not only gives me a chance to provide for my family but also to serve my community with love through every dish I prepare.”

Farrah stressed that the project is funded by the generosity witnessed during the SHF Walk for Health and Environment 2023, the “Feed the Needy” project is a testament to the power of community spirit.

“It’s a reminder that together, we can create waves of change, one meal, one smile at a time,” she remarked.

Nutritious home-cooked meals all served in sustainable packaging.

She explained that the project also includes psychosocial support and work placement opportunities with PERKESO as the moving forward plans.

SHF’s main objectives are to render effective help to the needy and underprivileged communities in Johor.

SHF also promotes national unity among all the races and promote awareness for the environment and sustainability.

Not mincing her words, Farrah said, “Feeding the needy in the city is one of the three SHF’s proposed social and environmental impact projects this year.

“Together, we are orchestrating a symphony of solidarity, touching lives one meal at a time,” she said.

She conveyed her deepest gratitude to all partners and sponsors for turning this vision into reality.

She said that SHF is excited to explore more avenues to enrich lives and strengthen the fabric of our community.

“Together, we can nurture where no one is left behind,” she added.
