I encountered recently rather substantive discourse on Air Nira Nipah, or Nira Nipah Juice, or the sap from the Nipah palm.
The drink from the sap of the Nipah palm is delicious and very refreshing, especially when served fresh and cold.
Keep it a little longer and it is used as vinegar.
But many may have never seen a Nipah palm tree or visited a Nipah palm farm (I call it farm because it is not large enough to be a plantation).
Well with this piece, I hope to share with you more about the Nipah palm and visit a Nipah palm farm.
So now when you stop for that fresh cold and refreshing Air Nira Nipah at a roadside stall, you know a little more about the Nipah palm.
Did you know that the nipah palm tree trunk grows beneath the ground, and only the leaves and flower stalk grow upwards above the surface?
This is a very useful tree with many uses. The leaves are useful for making roofs and woven into baskets. The sap for refreshing drink, various medicinal purposes, making sugar and also even biofuel.
