SHAH ALAM: Tourism Selangor, the state’s official tourism promotion agency was on board the Seatrade Cruise Global 2023 under the umbrella of Tourism Malaysia Los Angeles from March 27 to March 30 in Florida.
Led by its Chief Executive Officer, Azrul Shah Mohamad, the delegation participated in the Seatrade Cruise Global 2023 along with other 500 exhibitors, with a mission to strengthen the state’s cruise tourism segment and bring together the visionaries, experts and thousands of like-minded cruise professionals.
Framed beneath the theme “Forward Momentum”, Tourism Selangor is determined to tap into the cruise tourism that poses a high potential in contributing towards an influx of tourists to Selangor.
With the collaboration between Tourism Selangor and Tourism Malaysia, it is anticipated that there will be more cross-promotion series, FAM trips, sales missions, and digital and advertising campaigns to be held with participating countries.
According to the President of the Florida-Carribean Cruise Association (FCCA) Michele Paige, “Further Momentum” perfectly encapsulates both Seatrade Cruise Global and the cruise industry.
“Throughout adversity, both have proven to be resilient and able not only to overcome difficult times but also to adapt and improve. FCCA looks forward to optimising the event’s opportunities with our destination and Member Line partners to embrace this theme and continue to build back better together.”
Azrul Shah Mohamad said, through the “Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere!” campaign, Selangor will ramp up effort to participate in a number of international travel and tourism trade shows to elevate the cruise tourism segmentation.
In 2022, a total of 141 ships carrying a total of 342,721 passengers sailed to Port Klang Cruise Terminal, which is the largest and busiest port in Malaysia. It is a preferred cruise stop by well-known Cruise Lines such as Genting Dream – Resorts World Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Regal Cruises, Star Cruises and Royal Caribbean International.
The terminal is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and amenities such as air-conditioned buildings, link bridges for embarkation and disembarkation, covered walkways, foreign exchange counters, taxi and bus services, terminal security, and many more.
“The state of Selangor is convinced, with its unique segmentations such as eco-tourism, agro-tourism, theme park, medical tourism, cruise tourism, golf and sports tourism, experiential tourism, cultural and heritage, to shopping and retail experience and splendid attractions;
“With Royal Klang Heritage Walk, Blue Mosque, Pulau Ketam, Mah Meri Cultural Village and Sky Mirror, the state will be able to revamp and continue its pre-pandemic effort in attracting international tourists, especially through the Port Klang Cruise Terminal,” he said.
