It’s another busy week in Lumut Naval Base with a Fleet Open Day starting from 29 to 31 December.
The event is open to Malaysians from 9am to 7pm daily, culminating with a sunset ceremony, a naval tradition, where each ship’s company will lower the RMN flag (better known as the Ensign) as a symbolic end to the day.
Apart from visiting navy ships docked at the jetty, the public will be able to watch performances by the silent drill squad and see static displays of helicopters of the RMN and other enforcement agencies.

If you are planning to visit, here are some tips for the outing:
1. Check the day’s weather forecast and prepare accordingly.
2. Dress comfortably with closed walking shoes, especially when visiting the ships. No high heels or flip flops recommended for your own safety.
3. Food and beverage will be available on site but do bring water to avoid dehydration.
4. Do follow procedure to enter and leave the base and designated parking space. You may need to walk a bit to get to the jetty and exhibition area.
5. Don’t forget to shop for merchandise available!
