ISKANDAR PUTERI: In the gentle hush of Ramadan afternoons, when the anticipation of breaking fast lingers quietly in the air, a simple act of giving can carry profound meaning. Yesterday, that meaning arrived in the form of warm, fragrant Bubur Lambuk — prepared not merely as a meal, but as a heartfelt tribute to those who stand watch over society.
In a stirring show of appreciation, ibis Styles Johor Iskandar Puteri extended its hands to the men and women who serve on the frontlines, delivering nourishing comfort to police officers and firefighters across Iskandar Puteri.
Through a series of coordinated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the hotel distributed a total of 160 packs of the traditional Ramadan porridge — each packet a quiet symbol of gratitude, unity, and shared humanity.

The outreach unfolded across multiple locations, reflecting both scale and sincerity. At the Iskandar Puteri District Police Headquarters (IPD), 100 packs of Bubur Lambuk were presented to officers who tirelessly uphold law and order.
Earlier in the day, two dedicated teams from the hotel had set out on parallel missions — one to Balai Polis Iskandar Puteri and the other to Balai Bomba Iskandar Puteri — delivering 30 packs to each institution.
Though modest in form, the gesture carried weight far beyond its numbers.
Six hotel associates, including General Manager Charanita Gill, personally took part in the distribution at IPD Iskandar Puteri. Their presence underscored the spirit of collective giving that transcended job titles and departments.
They were warmly received by the Officer in Charge of Police District (OCPD), Chief M. Kumarasan, alongside his officers — a moment marked not by ceremony, but by quiet mutual respect.
For the police personnel, whose duties continue relentlessly through festive seasons, the offering served as a reminder that their sacrifices do not go unnoticed.
Ramadan, after all, is not only a time of fasting, but also a season of reflection, compassion, and shared resilience — values deeply mirrored in the work of those who protect the public each day.

At the fire station, a similar scene unfolded. Firefighters, ever prepared to respond to emergencies at a moment’s notice, received the Bubur Lambuk with equal warmth. In their line of duty, where unpredictability is constant and risks are real, such gestures offer a rare pause — a moment of connection between community and service.
What made this initiative particularly significant was its dual approach. By reaching both police and fire departments, the hotel acknowledged the interconnected roles these frontline institutions play in safeguarding lives and property.
Each operates under different circumstances, yet both share a common purpose: to protect, to serve, and to respond when it matters most.
The initiative itself was carefully coordinated. Two teams, led respectively by the hotel’s Front Office Manager and Food & Beverage Manager, were mobilized simultaneously, demonstrating a seamless collaboration across departments. It was, in essence, a reflection of what the hotel sought to convey — that meaningful impact is often the result of collective effort.
Beyond logistics and numbers, however, lay a deeper narrative. Bubur Lambuk, a dish synonymous with Ramadan in Malaysia, is traditionally prepared and shared within communities. Its distribution is an act steeped in heritage — a reminder that food, at its heart, is a bridge between people. In this instance, that bridge connected the hospitality sector with those who serve beyond its walls.

This outreach also echoes the broader Corporate Social Responsibility vision of Accor, the global hospitality group behind ibis Styles. Rooted in community engagement, the initiative reflects a philosophy that hospitality extends beyond guest experiences — it encompasses care for the communities in which hotels operate.
By stepping outside its premises and into the spaces occupied by frontline heroes, ibis Styles Johor Iskandar Puteri reaffirmed its role not just as a place of rest, but as a responsible and compassionate neighbour.
For many of the recipients, the gesture may have lasted only a few moments — a brief exchange, a shared smile, a warm meal to break fast. Yet, within those moments lay something enduring: the quiet assurance that their efforts are seen, valued, and appreciated.
As the sun set and the call to break fast echoed across Iskandar Puteri, the bowls of Bubur Lambuk found their place among uniforms and duty shifts, offering not just sustenance, but a sense of connection.
And perhaps that is the true essence of Ramadan — not in grand displays, but in these gentle acts of giving, where gratitude is served warm, and kindness lingers long after the meal is done.
In a world often defined by urgency and routine, ibis Styles Johor Iskandar Puteri’s outreach stands as a timely reminder: that even the simplest gestures, when carried out with sincerity, can nourish more than just the body — they can uplift the spirit, strengthen bonds, and quietly illuminate the shared humanity that binds a community together.
