ISKANDAR PUTERI: What began as a festive evening of silver and blue soon revealed itself to be a story of people, purpose and progress, as ibis Styles Johor Iskandar Puteri marked a triple milestone with warmth and meaning.

Speaking at the hotel’s 4th Anniversary celebration, General Manager Charanita Gill described the night as more than a party, but a reflection of a journey shaped by resilience, teamwork and responsibility.

The celebration brought together the hotel’s anniversary, its Christmas Cocktail 2025 and a landmark achievement — becoming the first hotel in Johor to receive the prestigious international Green Key Certification, a global benchmark for environmental responsibility in tourism.

Framed by the theme “Silver and Blue — 4 Years of Glitters!”, Charanita said the colours symbolised the values that have guided the hotel under Accor International’s management — silver for innovation and adaptability, and blue for trust, loyalty and responsibility.

“These are the values that have shaped who we are today,” she noted, as she reflected on four years of growth, challenges and shared triumphs.

The Green Key Certification, awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education, stood out as a defining milestone. It recognises hotels that meet rigorous environmental and sustainability standards, and Charanita described the achievement as a proud affirmation of ibis Styles Johor Iskandar Puteri’s commitment to responsible hospitality.

She also acknowledged the support of partners Promise Earth and Wonderful Landscape, saying the recognition aligned closely with Johor’s broader vision for green and sustainable development.

Beyond environmental stewardship, the evening carried a strong human touch through the continuation of the Gift of Hope Christmas Tree Programme, now in its third year.

This year’s initiative supports underprivileged children from Taman Nusa Perintis 2 as they prepare for the 2026 school term, in collaboration with the local community neighbourhood watch.

Charanita said the programme reflected the belief that sustainability extends beyond the planet to the people and communities the hotel serves.

In an emotional tribute, Charanita thanked the hotel’s owners, partners, corporate clients and loyal guests for their trust and continued support.

Her deepest appreciation, however, was reserved for the hotel’s team — the “Heartists” of Accor. “You are the soul of ibis Styles Johor Iskandar Puteri,” she said, praising their passion, resilience and quiet dedication that often goes unseen but never unappreciated.

Speaking at the hotel’s milestone event, Tourism Malaysia Director-General Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim hailed the property’s achievement as a defining moment for Johor’s hospitality landscape and a timely step towards a more sustainable future.

At the heart of the occasion was the hotel’s conferment of the Green Key Certification, an internationally recognised benchmark for environmental responsibility in the tourism and hospitality sector. Awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), the certification reflects rigorous standards in sustainable operations, environmental stewardship and continuous improvement.

Mohd Amirul Rizal extended his congratulations to ibis Styles Johor Iskandar Puteri for becoming the first hotel in Johor to receive the prestigious accolade, describing it as a reflection of the hotel’s long-term commitment to embedding sustainability into both daily operations and business strategy.

“This achievement is not only a milestone for the hotel,” he said, “but also one that closely aligns with the National Tourism Policy 2020–2030 and the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, both of which place sustainability at their core.”

He noted that the certification supports Johor’s broader aspirations towards green growth and sustainable development, while demonstrating that environmental responsibility can go hand in hand with delivering high-quality guest experiences.

Looking ahead, Mohd Amirul described Visit Malaysia 2026 as more than a tourism campaign, but a national platform to showcase Malaysia’s cultural richness, creativity and the warmth of its people to the world. With the campaign set to officially commence in the coming days, Malaysia is aiming to welcome 47 million international visitors by 2026, underscoring confidence in the country’s tourism ecosystem and readiness for global travellers.

Tourism Malaysia, he added, strongly supports initiatives that encourage tourism players to adopt internationally recognised sustainability standards, expressing hope that ibis Styles Johor Iskandar Puteri’s achievement would inspire more hotels and operators — particularly in Johor — to follow suit.

Highlighting Johor’s tourism appeal, he pointed to the state’s strategic location and diverse offerings, from the beaches of Desaru and the islands of Mersing to heritage towns such as Muar, complemented by a vibrant culinary and shopping scene.

As Malaysia prepares for Visit Malaysia 2026 and Visit Johor 2026, Mohd Amirul called for continued collaboration among industry stakeholders to strengthen the nation’s tourism ecosystem.

He concluded by once again congratulating the management and team of ibis Styles Johor Iskandar Puteri, commending their leadership in sustainability and thanking them for contributing meaningfully to the long-term resilience and competitiveness of Malaysia’s tourism industry.

The evening reached a meaningful crescendo with the presentation of the Green Key Accreditation by the Director General of Tourism Malaysia, Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim, marking a proud sustainability milestone for ibis Styles Johor Iskandar Puteri.

The celebration then flowed into a symbolic Christmas tree lighting, representing hope, unity and gratitude, before the night sky came alive with a burst of festive fireworks. As live music filled the air and Christmas cocktails were shared, guests lingered in a warm, joyful atmosphere — a fitting reflection of the season’s spirit and a night to remember.

As guests enjoyed the evening’s carefully curated dishes and festive ambience, the celebration closed on a hopeful note — one that looked beyond the sparkle of the night to the journey ahead. Four years on, ibis Styles Johor Iskandar Puteri stands not just as a hotel, but as a growing community bound by care, responsibility and shared purpose — with many more years of glitter yet to come.
