Datuk Seri Teo Shiok Fu JP, is a humble man who goes all out to help the penurious. He never looks at his watch when assisting the needy. When he gets a knock on his door he is out in action to serve the needy. This kind samaritan is a man for the poor.

Teo, 58, is a tireless champion of the underprivileged, known in his community for his unwavering dedication to helping those in need. Whether it’s the middle of the night or the crack of dawn, he never checks his watch or hesitates when someone knocks on his door seeking aid.

With a heart full of compassion and hands always ready to serve, he has become a beacon of hope for the penurious. To the poor, he is more than just a helper—he is a steadfast friend, a selfless samaritan, and a man whose every action speaks volumes about his deep commitment to uplifting the less fortunate.

For the poor, B40, single mothers, he is hope in motion—a man who never tires, never turns away.

Teo is a shining example of compassion and dedication, following closely in his father’s footsteps by committing his life to helping the needy and the poor. Inspired by the values and tireless efforts of his father a community leader then, Teo has gone all out to support the penurious and single mothers who are struggling to make ends meet.

Whether through organizing food drives, providing financial aid, or offering emotional support, he strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing hardship. For Teo, this mission is more than just charity—it is a heartfelt continuation of the legacy his father began, a legacy built on kindness, generosity, and an unwavering belief in lifting up those who have fallen on hard times.

He became a member of the Rotary Club of Johor Bahru (RCJB) in 1999. And, subsequently in 2017 he took over as president.

He always wanted to do something for all races. That was his mission. Hence, his calling to serve the needy embarks here.

For the penurious, Teo is hope in motion – a man who never tires, never turns away. His kindness knows no schedule. He tries to lift the burdened, no matter the hour.

As a member of the Rotary club, time is never a barrier – only an opportunity to serve those in need.

He has brought joy to the orphans. Their faces beamed with joy as he has taken them to Legoland where they spent a splendid time delving themselves into a galore of games with fun and frolics.

For the single mothers, he ensured that they were given the necessary rations so that their stove would be lightened up.

Teo also ensured he did not miss out in its festive giving especially during Deepavali, Christmas, Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“Never underestimate the difference you can make in the lives of others. Step forward, reach out and help. This week reach to someone that might need a lift,” he asserted.

During his year in officein the Rotary, he ensured the needy is taken care off. From trying to raise funds to support projects to encouraging Rotarians to attend projects, he made it all in one year.

“During my term as president we even donated water filter to a Tamil school In Kulai,” he stated.

Not mincing his words, Teo said, “Community service gave me a valuable opportunity to walk into a different community that is less familiar to me but just as colourful and most importantly, in need.”

For the poor, he is a river that never runs dry, a shelter that never shuts its doors. He counts his riches not in gold but the smiles of the fed and the warmth of the clothed.

Even he has helped the Malay orphanages, old folks homes and the list can go on and on and never ends.

“I even brought doctors to visit the old folks home and the inmates were treated and provided with medication,” he said.

He pointed out that to hardcore poor at Larkin flat were never left out. He provided cooked food prepared by single mothers.

According to Teo they were provided with food once a week and the single mothers who cooked the food were paid.

Under the banner of Social Hero Foundation (SHF) where Teo is a Trustee, he provided water filter for the Orang Asli at Kg Pasir Salam.

In November 2024, he helped 300 fishermen by providing tools for them by sewing crab and lobster nets and built fish homes (also known as Unjam Ikan) and fish traps ( also known as Bubu Ikan) which will be of help to the fishermen during the monsoon season.

For the poor fishermen, he is a river that never runs dry, a shelter that never shuts its doors.

He even educated the Orang Asli community by providing first aid course for them through the assistance of the civil defense.

To ensure the residence at Larkin flats are devoid of disease he conducted a health screening test.

For him, time is never a barrier – only an opportunity to serve those in need. And that goes anywhere or anytime – day or night. He goes all out to uplift the penurious, proving time and again that true compassion knows no clock.

In the pipeline is a health screening for residents of Larkin Flats is essential to ensure early detection of potential health issues, promote overall well-being, and prevent the spread of communicable diseases within the community.

“By identifying health risks early, appropriate interventions can be provided, improving residents’ quality of life and reducing long-term healthcare costs. Regular screenings also help create a safer, healthier living environment for everyone at Larkin Flats,” he explained.

Besides being the Trustee for SHF, Teo also holds numerous positions namely deputy president of Malaysian Dato’ Entrepreneurs Association (MDEA), First vice president Persatuan Hainan Johor Bahru, Council Member the Malaysian Estate Owners’ Association (MEOA) and Member of the Commonwealth Magistrates’ Judges’ Association (UK) and a Fellow with the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI UK).

On the education scene, he is the deputy chairman, board of governors, Southern University College.
