
JOHOR BAHRU: A kaleidoscope of colours, music, cultures and fun greeted visitors to a school as part of an event to mark its Pirate Fun Run & International Fayre 2024.
Invictus International School has students from 24 different nationalities. Students, parents, their relatives and friends were present to participate in the variety of activities to mark the occasion.
Among those present were Law Cheong Yan, chairman Board of Governors, Gan Chin Huat, member Board of Governors and Dr. Nicholas Duggan, Invictus headmaster.

The day’s programme began with a zumba performance conducted by external performers.
After a thrilling performance by the zumba warm-up, the race was flagged off by Law, Gan and Dr. Nicholas. Some 200 participants took part in the run.
The runners embarked on a five km journey around the green and leafy township of Sri Alam.
Invictus International School headmaster Dr. Nicholas in his welcome address said that Repton International School is now rebranded to Invictus International School.
He said today’s community event unites the richness of diversity among the staff and students.
“We also pay homage to the past as we continue the Charity Run – an event started several years ago,” he said.

Dr. Nicholas also pointed out that he was heartened to be part of this remarkable celebration where they celebrate the future with every year having an International Fayre but with changing themes.
Earlier, he welcomed all invited guests, parents and students with a few coming from across the causeway.
He mentioned that the school which has been in operation for more than ten years has held a charity run three times.
He said from 2017 – 2019, the school was known as Excelsior International School.
Dr. Nicholas said for the first time, post Covid 19, Repton International School, ran its first major event this year, introducing the Pirate Fun Run 2024 as an annual event, which will now continue under Invictus International School.
He went on to say that the Pirate Fun Run and International Fayre is an initiative implemented by Invictus Spring Hills (ISH) to help the needy.

“ISH is always concerned about the plight of the poor to ensure that no children are left out to enjoy their childhood life,” he stressed.
This year, he said an amount of RM10,000 under the participation Pirate Fun Run and International Fayre booth collections and donations to be distributed among the non-governmental agencies within Johor.
“It’s indeed a great joy to see the over 371 students from different countries all over the world unite in games, performances and sports activities,” he remarked.
This kind of event, he said, also creates a synergy as we move forward to the transition from Repton to the rebranded to Invictus and becoming a member of the Invictus family of schools.
Not mincing his word, he said, today highlights the high cooperation provided by all parties in realizing this event, and indirectly, reflects the true potential of Invictus students, parents and staff in ensuring the continuous success of this school.
“It is a big day for everyone who has been a part of the school in the past, the present and for those joining us in a bright future,” he said.
According to Dr. Nicholas for the past eleven years, the school has had many accomplishments and graduated thousands of students.
Those who attended the Fayre were acquainted with various countries, cultures and customs on display. It was indeed a sight to behold as everyone cherished the moment of bringing their multicultural community to all.

He also assured all “as we drive down the road of change our headlights are steadfastly lighting up our bright future as Invictus.”
He thanked the staff for their hard work to support the planning of the Pirate Fun Run and International Fayre 2024.
Among the activities included a magic show, lucky draw, piano performance, band and dance performances, traditional dances, musical instrument performance.
Those present were also entitled for free medical check-ups by Care Clinics with free blood pressure and glucose monitoring and consultation with a doctor.
The school prepares students to be grounded and well rounded, and are committed to delivering a holistic education, one that balances both curricular and extra-curricular arenas. Every student, while striving for academic excellence, must be involved in, and appreciate, sports and the arts as well.
The school ensures that the students who pass through our gates will leave fully equipped with the rigour, attitude and skills that they will need to thrive, not just survive, in today’s volatile, complex world.
