SITTING at the edge of the jetty at a fishing village along the coast, I was watching the terns gracefully fly pass slightly overhead, and then suddenly dive towards the water at amazing speed, to grab a fish from just below the surface of the water.

I tried many times to capture the dive scene, but they were too fast for me to position my camera, as I could not predict when and where they would start their dive. What I posted is the best I could do.

As they dive, it was a beautiful sight to see their long angular wings stretched wide at first, and then tucked in to gain speed, till they make the minimal splash in the water, and then open up again to fly off, to get ready for another dive.

Appreciating Malaysian nature and its amazing biodiversity. Let’s promote awareness on Malaysia’s rich biodiversity and support its sustainability.
