
A large beautiful heron, often observed waiting motionless for fish in the shallow water. They are certainly patient birds, only flying off when disturbed by intrusive human with a camera like me.
Habitat includes coasts, estuaries, rivers, mangrove forest, ponds, lakes and paddy fields.
In Malay it is called Pucung Seriap.
A tall bird, with long legs, a long beak and grey, black and white feathering. They can stand with their neck stretched out, as they look for food, or hunched down with their neck bent over their chest.
