OPPRESSED, suppressed, depraved, deprived and displaced in their homeland, the long running sufferings of the Palestinians bear testament to the abysmal failure of the international community (read the United Nations) in dealing with the Israel – Palestine issue.

The plight of the Palestinians since 1948 is a blight in modern human history.

Seventy-five years on, Israeli bombs and missiles continue to rain undeserved miseries on the Palestinians and we are left to ponder what has the UN been doing about it.

Despite its lofty ideals, the UN has yet to resolve the Israel-Palestine issue.

Secretary Generals have come and gone but the humanitarian crisis in Israeli occupied Palestine remains pathetically unchecked.

Within this context, 75 years of foot dragging by the UN leave me no choice but to label this world body a farce.

Yupp, a big fart of a farce.

Re this issue, it seems to me that the UN is plagued by one too many UNs: UNmoved, UNcaring, UNwilling, UNjust, UNholy…. the list is UNending.

Anyway, 70- odd years of foot dragging certainly does not look pretty on anybody’s CV.

And that brings us to the jackpot question.

What…No, make that Who is holding back the UN from thrashing out a just and final solution to this grave issue? Grave in every sense of the word.

How many more innocent Palestinian kids must be sent to their untimely graves?

Can anyone in the UN answer that?

Let’s not be naive. Who is Israel’s staunchest backer? No prize for guessing the right answer.

Good old Uncle Sam has always been there for Israel right from the day this illegitimate state was born.

The US plus its Western sidekicks, notably Britain and France have conspired to pamper and mollycoddle Israel beyond acceptable limits.

Okay, back to the UN and let us delve into that biggest conundrum in the world body; the Security Council, the serial killer of democracy.

The US sits in this Council as one of its undemocratically privileged permanent members.

Just why the founding fathers of the UN saw it fit to grant veto power to the permanent members of the Security Council is beyond my immediate comprehension. It runs counter to the spirit of democracy.

The US, the self confessed defender of democracy, proudly shits on democracy every time the Security Council comes up with a resolution that condemns and denounces Israel.

A simple solitary “Nay” by the US is enough to nullify a resolution that is favoured by all the other members.Democracy, eh? My foot! More the great grandaddy of hypocrisy than anything else. Isn’t it time this nonsensical veto power is done away with?

So therein lies the inherent weakness of the UN.The US has never and will never endorse any resolution that amounts to the rapping of Israel’s knuckles.

Uncle Sam’s message to the rest of the world is clear: Don’t touch my boy. With that sheen of assured untouchableness, Israel has become increasingly arrogant.

Emboldened by this, Israel has progressively honed its own brand of barbarism and morphed into the enfant terrible it is today.

The Zionist regime sees it as its birth right to flout international laws with abject impunity.

And as long as the status quo in the UN Security Council remains, the Zionist barbarians will continue to thumb their noses at global condemnations of their brutalities on the down trodden Palestinians.

So you want me to come out to the city street to partake in the merry stomping and burning of the national flag of Israel? Will that stop the genocide in Gaza?
