As the Malaysian Media Council gears up to establish itself within the next 6 to 18 months, it is crucial to emphasize the importance of inclusive participation in combating fake news and disinformation. Beyond the Malaysian press corps and media houses, the PR and Communication fraternity must unite in a holistic effort. With the advent of advanced AI technologies like ChatGPT, it becomes imperative to utilize these tools effectively. This article outlines key ways in which inclusive participation can be fostered, with examples and quotes from leading Malaysian media and communication practitioners.

Establishing the Malaysian Media Council as a Collaborative Platform:

  1. Encourage membership and participation of diverse stakeholders, including journalists, media houses, PR professionals, and communication experts.
  2. Foster open dialogue and collaboration to address common challenges in tackling fake news and disinformation.
  3. Provide a space for joint initiatives and the sharing of best practices.

Promoting Ethical Journalism and Responsible Communication:
