PUTRAJAYA: The highly anticipated maritime book detailing the field of shipping and logistics is now available in the market for every researcher, mover, and
stakeholder in the maritime industry.
The book, Shipping and Logistics in Malaysia (published by the Maritime Institute of
Malaysia (MIMA) and P&I Malaysia), written by Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Yazid Zul
Kepli, was officiated by Transport Minister Anthony Loke in a brief ceremony held at the Ministry of Transport on 12 April 2023.
Loke signed a replica of the book, witnessed by the MIMA Chairman Mohamed Suffian Awang, Director-General of MIMA, Dr. Sabirin Ja’afar, the book author Dr. Yazid, as well as officials of the ministry and MIMA.
Shipping and Logistics in Malaysia comprehensively discusses both processes
(shipping and logistics) that are pillars of world trade: with 90 percent of goods and
products, especially food, are sent by ships.
This 558-page book should be owned by those involved in the maritime field
as well as students who take maritime courses at institutes of higher learning.
Mohamed Suffian said this book will further help to fuel the development
and survival of the maritime sector in Malaysia.
“It provides a clear picture to readers, researchers, or players in the maritime sector by
taking readers far into the past world of ‘ancient history’ and ‘middle ages’ and then
stepping into the ‘modern era’ to examine the formation of the maritime history of the
world.”
It needs to be owned as an important reference in the Ministry of Transport and
the related agencies, he said.
Mohamed Suffian later presented a copy of Shipping and Logistics in Malaysia to
YB Loke as a token of appreciation. This hardcover book can be purchased for RM100
at http://www.mima.gov.my, Shopee, and Lazada.
