ANIH Berhad, the operator of the Kuala Lumpur – Karak Expressway (KLK) and the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1) is ready to face a massive increase in the number of vehicles on both expressways in conjunction with the year-end holiday season.

Based on traffic trends along the Kuala Lumpur – Karak (KLK) highway and LPT1, the operator expects daily traffic along KLK to increase by 165,000 vehicles, which is an increase of 65% from the normal daily traffic flow, while a total of 70,000 vehicles, reflecting an increase of 63%, will be using LPT1 between December 23-27.

“Users are advised to adhere to the Travel Time Advisory (TTA)(see photos) for their convenience,” said its senior general manager Radzimah Mohd Radzi.

Compliance to the TTA can have a positive impact in reducing congestion along the KLK and LPT1 highways and the number of support staff has also increased at the toll plazas, as well as stationing RELA members at strategic areas along the highway to ensure smooth traffic throughout the period.

“We would also like to remind users to drive safe and stop at R&Rs and lay-bys when necessary. Follow the road signs and speed limit as well as the instructions of the highway officers for a safer journey,” she added.

Users are also reminded to ensure that they have sufficient e-Wallet and Touch N’Go card balance before starting their journey to ensure smooth travel and avoid any problems related to insufficient balance at the toll plazas.

Yesterday, Plus Malaysia Berhad had issued its TTA for travellers in view of a large increase of vehicles expected to travel along the Plus Expressways.
